Perennial Garden with Pond Design Plan
This perennial garden is 60 feet wide by 90 feet deep. It has a rock wall which surrounds many garden features such as a perennial garden, a pond and a gazebo surrounded by a slow moving stream. There are two bridges which cross over the stream and allow a person access to the gazebo. Stepping stones lead from the sliding door to the first bridge.
The main purpose of the garden is to provide inspiration. The quiet trickle from the stream, the flowers, the statues, the benches and the gazebo all contribute to this purpose.
Perennial Plants
Every perennial garden needs perennials in it! Here are some perennials to consider for your garden:
- Ivy Hanging Baskets
Ivy needs very little attention and it will last for years. Ivy can be used as a ground cover, but it is also perfect to put in hanging baskets or on the top shelf, so the vines can trail down.
- Lilac Bushes
When buying lilacs, read the label first to see how large the plant will grow. Make sure to give it the space it needs and you will have beautiful flowers every spring.
- Peony
Another bush that yields beautiful, fragrant flowers. They come in many different sizes and colours, so check the label first before you buy.
