To get to the perennial garden, you can follow either the "Taste of VanDusen" or "The World of Plants" walking route. On one side of the garden is a a wall of Haddington Island sandstone and on the other side (featured in this picture) is a hedge of Irish yew.
Each season showcases different perennial flowers. In early spring, you will see pink bergenias and a lungwort called Pulmonaria 'Bowles' Red'. Then in early summer, the delphiniums, phlox, Anchusa, Dictamnus, the gas plant, and red hot pokers, Kniphofias, take over. In late summer and fall, you will find Michaelmas daisies, asters, chrysanthemums and sedums.
