Just past the sign to the entrance, you will come to the Swedish Fountain, which is part of the VanDusen Botanical Garden international sculpture collection. It was given to the garden in 1975, as a gift from the Swedish Folk Society. It was created by the Swedish artist Per Nilsson-Ost. Surrounding the fountain are eight panels, which are made entirely from bronze. Seven of the panels represent the work of Swedish pioneers. The eighth panel is special as it displays the three crowns of Sweden, a Viking ship, a dogwood blossom and finally a totem pole. This panel is special because is symbolizes the friendship between Canada and Sweden.
