The favourite choice of flowers for valentines and anniversaries.

Care Requirements: They need lots of sun. They also need well drained soil that is rich in nutrients, so be sure to add compost or manure every season.

Learn the Meaning of The Colours of Roses:

There is a meaning for each different colour a rose comes in.  Centuries ago, when people sent roses to another person, it conveyed all they wanted to say.  Learn the emotion that each colour holds.

• Pale pink => grace, gentleness, and joy
• Light pink => a sense of fun, happiness, and whimsy
• Deep pink => appreciation and gratitude
• Red roses => beauty, courage, respect and the symbol of love
• Coral red => passion and desire
• Orange => enthusiasm, excitement and desire. Often sent at the beginning of a new romance. They are also popular at Halloween.
• Peach => appreciation, gratitude, modesty, and sympathy
• Yellow => joy, friendship and new beginnings. They are a great way to say congratulations to newlyweds, graduates, and new mothers.
• Pure white => truth, innocence, honour and reverence. For brides, white symbolizes purity.
• Purple, lilac and lavender => love at first sight, enchantment, faithfulness and true love
